Spiral Plantskin
The Spiral Plantskin Series is a grouping composed of three individual, double-sided mobiles. One side is composed of plant materials overlaid with tissue paper and gel medium to mimic certain conditions in the woods, which I call skin. Rich, thick and tactile– the surfaces were finger-painted to re-emphasize texture and depth.
The second sides all portray a spiral– the ancient symbol for the Great Goddess. Each differs in medium and materials, presenting a different aspect of her. All incorporate nature within them: stones, seeds, and peat moss, as well as oil pastel scratch drawings and marks. These are celebratory of nature.
